Overview

The former coal mining community of Pengam is served by this small station on the Valley Lines network that runs through South Wales. Opened in 1858, it processes nearly half a million visitors annually and sees up to ten trains every hour.

The village once had two working collieries, with in excess of 600 men employed; however, due to flooding risks, the mines closed in the late 1950s, but the station continued to serve passengers.
