At the mouth of the River Clwyd, Rhyl lies on the northeast coast of Wales. A popular coastal resort, there are numerous attractions to suit every taste. Stretching for over 6 miles, the wide curving sands are home to donkey rides, ball games and sandcastle competitions, and are a draw that few can resist.

Rhyl’s Seaquarium is a great place to start. Both educational and great fun, the underwater world of wonders is designed around the different oceanic habitats, such as the Pacific, Indian or Red Sea. Get up close and personal with some of the world’s most venomous fishes, including the strange-looking stonefish, the weird puffer fish and schools of hungry, flesh-eating piranhas. Understand the importance of preserving these creatures and their habitat for future generations to enjoy.

Continuing the animal theme, book a fun pony ride along the beach. Bridlewood Riding Centre has ponies that are suitable for the ‘which way round do I sit’ novice to the budding Grand National winner. The guides will help you all the way and be instantly on hand should you require assistance, while the horses are gentle, patient and well cared for.

Take the picturesque route past the gloriously tranquil Marine Lake by catching the 100-year-old Miniature Railway. Billy, Clara, and the Railway Queen are just some of the beautiful old engines that can pull the train around the tracks.

For culture vultures, Rhyl has two fabulous places to catch the latest blockbuster - the Scala cinema and the Pavilion Theatre. Both have packed programmes that feature film screenings, classic theatre and stand up comedy, and are the perfect way to finish your Rhyl adventure.
