Overview

The North Wales town of Wrexham is served by four stations - Wrexham Central, Wrexham General, Ruabon, and Gwersyllt, with Ruabon one of the busiest. On the Shrewsbury to Chester route and opened in November 1846, the station buildings were originally constructed with an Italianate design by the renowned architect Thomas Penson. These were replaced twenty years later by stone buildings in the neo-Tudor style, which, although refurbished in 2009, still remain in use today. The iconic honey-coloured stone, sourced from local quarries, makes Raubon one of the prettiest stations in Wales.

Ruabon station also serves as the bus interchange, making it easy to catch a bus around town.
