Update: Incident due to a road vehicle colliding with level crossing barriers between Nantwich (NAN) and Crewe (CRE) until 19:00.

Due to a road vehicle colliding with level crossing barriers between Nantwich (NAN) and Crewe (CRE):

Services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Crewe (CRE).

We expect the incident to last until 19:00 and disruption to services is expected until 19:00.

The problem has now been rectified and services are able to run.

Residual delays and cancellations can be expected until 19:00.

We're sorry for the disruption to your journey today.

Alternative Travel Options

Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:

  • Avanti West Coast between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly
  • Northern services between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly.

These arrangements are in place on services until 19:00.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

Alternative Travel Options

We have organised buses to run between Shrewsbury and Crewe to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost.

The Crewe all stops to Shrewsbury Rail replacement service will arrive at Crewe at approximately 16:30 provided by Pats Coaches.

The Shrewsbury all stops to Crewe Rail replacement service will arrive at Shrewsbury at approximately 16:30 provided by Cymru Coaches.

These arrangements are in place on services until 18:30.

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

Due to a broken rail between Cardiff Central (CDF) and Penarth (PEN):

Services will be delayed by up to 5 minutes.

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Cardiff Central (CDF) and Penarth (PEN).

We expect the incident to last until further notice and disruption to services is expected until further notice.

What's Happened?

We have been made aware of a broken rail between Penarth & Dingle Road.

For safety, train services will be running more slowly than normal through the area, with residual delays of around 5 minutes to be expected.

Our colleagues at Network Rail Infrastructure are aware of the problem and Technicians are currently en route to the affected area of track.

We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from the infrastructure technicians.

Customers can use local bus services between Cardiff and Penarth to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost:

  • Service 92 with Cardiff Bus.

We advise passengers to tap out at the earliest opportunity.

Update: Incident due to a shortage of train crew between Swansea (SWA) and Llandrindod (LLO) until 22:00.

Due to a shortage of train crew between Swansea (SWA) and Llandrindod (LLO):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Swansea (SWA) and Llandrindod (LLO).

We expect the incident to last until 22:00 and disruption to services is expected from 17:47 until the end of the day.

Alternative Travel Options:

We have organised buses to run between Swansea and Llandrindod to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These will arrive at Swansea at approximately 17:47 travelling as far as Llandrindod, provided by Gower. When arriving into Llandrindod customers will be met by another bus that will stop as required as far as Shrewsbury. Further replacement road transport will also be arriving into Llandrindod at 20:07 travelling all stops to Swansea, provided by Francis.

These arrangements are in place on services 22:00.

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.
