Overview
The station that serves the Welsh town of Carmarthen opened in 1902, and today, has nearly half a million passengers through its doors annually. Sitting on the opposite side of the River Towy than the town, visitors have to cross the footbridge in order to enter the town's ancient streets and squares. If you're visiting this lovely town, make sure to take a look at this comprehensive guide on things to do in Carmarthen so you don't miss any of its breathtaking beauties.
The station is home to a commemorative plaque, unveiled in 2019, to the railway workers who were killed in the First World War. A local train driver researched the eight men who lost their lives, and the ceremony was attended by hundreds of people, including members of the Armed Forces.
