Magnificent Train Journey Winners
Back in 2021, we challenged the school children of Wales and the borders to give proud identities to over 150 brand-new trains that were joining our fleet. We asked them to come up with names for our new trains, based on either a real place, landmark or mythical figure associated with Wales and its borders. We also requested a creative explanation of why they chose the name, such as a painting or drawing, a poem or short story.

My Train is called Caerphilly Castle
My train is called Caerphilly Castle because it reminds me of when I was little and I went to my grans. My gran, my mum, my siblings and I went up there on a blazing hot day, we walked all the way from my grans house to Caerphilly castle it wasn’t that long to walk there but because it was such a hot day it felt like we were walking all the way to Africa. We walked all the way around the castle and I never thought it would be that big it was like the size of the moon but even bigger, there was a long stream of water all the way around the castle it was shining as bright as a diamond and on the shining water there was swans and ducks ready to get some yummy bread. We gave them some bread and when we had gave them all of the bread they kept on following us because they wanted more and my gran kept on running away because she was scared of them it was very funny.
