Cycling has lots of benefits. It’s fun, it’s healthy and it’s good for our environment. It takes traffic off our roads, reduces pollution, can save you money and improves our well-being.

Cycling can be easy and convenient - especially for short everyday journeys like going to work, taking the kids to school, popping to the shops or getting to the station. It's also great just for leisure and recreation.

That’s why, whether you’re walking and wheeling or cycling, our aim is to make door-to-door travel safer, sustainable and connected. Let’s make it our preferred way to travel.

What’s happening in your area?

By law, local authorities must encourage walking, wheeling and cycling. They do this through schemes such as improving local foot and cycle paths. Find out what's happening in your area here.

 

Active Travel Network Maps

All local authorities in Wales have to produce maps of walking and cycling networks in their local area, known as Active Travel Network Maps (ATNMs). Not all mapping is currently available online but more is being added so please check back regularly.
