Update: Incident due to a broken down train at Llanishen (LLS) until 15:15.

Due to a broken down train at Llanishen (LLS):

Services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Cardiff Queen Street (CDQ) and Rhymney (RHY).

We expect the incident to last until 15:15 and disruption to services is expected from 15:00 until 17:30.

The problem has now been rectified and services are able to run.

Residual delays and cancellations can be expected until 17:30.

Update: Incident due to a points failure at Ninian Park (NNP) until further notice.

Due to a points failure at Ninian Park (NNP):

Services will be cancelled from Radyr (RDR) towards Ninian Park (NNP).

We expect the incident to last until further notice and disruption to services is expected from 14:30 until further notice.

What's Happened?

We have been made aware of a points failure on the down line at Ninian Park.

As a result, train services will not be able to run through the area until the points have been fixed.

Our colleagues at Network Rail/Amey Infrastructure are aware of the problem and technicians are currently en route to the affected area/points.

We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from the infrastructure technicians.

New: Incident due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Ebbw Vale Town (EBB) until 18:00.

Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Ebbw Vale Town (EBB):

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Ebbw Vale Town (EBB).

We expect the incident to last until 18:00 and disruption to services is expected until 18:00.

What's Happened?

Due to a shortage of trains, there may be fewer trains able to run between Newport and Ebbw Vale.

Passengers are advised to travel on the next available service. Alternatively, passengers can travel on the next available Transport for Wales service to Cardiff Central to connect with our Cardiff to Ebbw Vale services.

Update: Incident due to passengers causing a disturbance on a train at Shrewsbury (SHR) until 14:30.

Due to passengers causing a disturbance on a train at Shrewsbury (SHR):

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Llandrindod (LLO).

We expect the incident to last until 14:30 and disruption to services is expected from 12:30 until 15:00.

Following a passenger disturbance earlier today, our 11:31 service from Shrewsbury to Swansea has been affected and will now be starting at Llandrindod.

Alternative Travel Options:

We have organised buses to run between Shrewsbury and Llandrindod to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These will arrive at Shrewsbury at approximately 12:30 calling at all stops to Llandrindod, provided by RH Travel.

A bus has also been arranged to run from Llandrindod, calling at all stops to Shrewsbury. This bus will depart at approximately 13:30.

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

We expect the incident to last until 20:00 and disruption to services is expected from 09:00 until 21:00.

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Heath Low Level (HLL) and Penarth (PEN).

We expect the incident to last until 20:00 on 27/06/2026 and disruption to services is expected from 05:00 on 22/06/2026 until 20:00 on 27/06/2026.

What's Happened?

Hot weather has been forecast, Meaning train journeys may be subject to change. Please check before you travel.

A Shuttle will operate servicing stations - Coryton, Whitchurch, Rhiwbina, Birchgrove, Ty Glas and Heath Low Level in both directions. For passengers wishing to travel towards Cardiff Central or Rhymney, please change at Heath Low Level and walk to Heath High Level for connecting train services.

There will be a reduced service Between Cardiff Central and Penarth due to the severe weather forcast.
