Background information:

Network Rail will be carrying out a programme of essential work on the Heart of Wales line. The vital engineering work will help maintain the safety and reliability of services while supporting the long-term future of the line.

During the closure, engineers will:

• Replace track timbers between Bucknell and Llangynllo
• Renew railway sleepers and timbers between Craven Arms Junction and Llandrindod Wells
• Carry out survey work at Penybont Tunnel to help plan future work
• Inspect Llangynllo Tunnel and carry out repairs and vegetation work

Trains between London Paddington / Swindon and Cheltenham Spa will terminate / start Gloucester. Most trains will arrive at Gloucester a few minutes later than normal. Most trains will depart Gloucester a few minutes earlier than normal, with normal timings departing Stonehouse and beyond. Trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Worcester Shrub Hill / Worcester Foregate Street will not call at Gloucester.

Buses will replace trains between Cheltenham Spa and Gloucester.

Trains between Salisbury / Bristol Temple Meads and Worcester Shrub Hill / Worcester Foregate Street will terminate / start at Gloucester.
