Cardiff Bay Line transformation: No trains to / from Cardiff Bay from Saturday 10 to Sunday 25 May

A few early morning / late night replacement buses will run between Cardiff Queen Street and Cardiff Bay. On Sunday 18 May, some replacement buses will run between Radyr and Cardiff Bay via Llandaf.
Background Information:
The Cardiff Bay Line transformation is part of the South Wales Metro project. A new two-platform station in the north of Butetown is being built. The existing Cardiff Bay station will also get a second platform as well as new signage, customer information screens and other enhancements. South Wales Metro Upgrade Work: Buses replace trains between Caerphilly and Rhymney from Saturday 12 April to Friday 23 May
Engineering work is taking place between Caerphilly and Rhymney, closing all lines. Background information on this work can be found below.
Buses will replace trains between Caerphilly and Rhymney on all days, apart from Saturday 19 April and Saturday 10 May. On these days, a normal service will operate apart from a few early morning buses, which will replace train services.
Background Information:
The Rhymney line is being upgraded as part of the next phase of the South Wales Metro. An intensive 8-month programme of engineering work is underway on the upper Rhymney line, from Caerphilly to Rhymney station.
This work will allow for the introduction of brand new tri-mode trains onto the Rhymney line, powered by electricity from the overhead lines, battery and diesel. These trains will deliver improved comfort, accessibility and reliability.

The 05:19 Aberystwyth to Birmingham International service will start from Machynlleth at 05:54. A replacement bus will run at 04:57 from Aberystwyth to Machynlleth, connecting with the train.
The 05:37 Machynlleth to Aberystwyth service will be replaced by a bus.

Engineering work is taking place between Chester and Llandudno Junction, closing all lines.
The 04:59 Holyhead to Manchester Piccadilly service will terminate at Llandudno Junction. A replacement bus will run from Llandudno Junction to Chester. Change at Chester for alternative Transport for Wales services towards Manchester.
The 06:21 Chester to Holyhead service will be amended to start at Llandudno Junction at 07:35. A replacement bus will run from Chester at 05:24 to Llandudno Junction, connecting with the train.
The 07:17 Holyhead to Crewe service will terminate at Llandudno Junction. A replacement bus will run from Llandudno Junction to Chester, connecting at Chester with a train which will run from Chester to Crewe,
The 08:35 Crewe to Holyhead service will be amended to start from Llandudno Junction. An additional train will run from Crewe to Chester, and a replacement bus will run from Chester to Llandudno Junction.

Engineering work is taking place between Cardiff Central and Radyr via Ninian Park, and between Cardiff Central and Penarth, closing various lines before 12:30.
Cardiff Central - Radyr via Ninian Park:
No trains will run between Cardiff Central and Radyr via Ninian Park. Trains that usually run via Ninian Park will be diverted to run via Cathays, calling additionally at Cardiff Queen Street, Cathays and Llandaf.

Engineering work is taking place at several locations in the Cardiff area, closing various lines overnight from Monday evening until Friday morning.
Monday to Friday:
The 22:37 Merthyr Tydfil to Cardiff Central will terminate at Radyr. A replacement bus will run from Radyr to Cardiff Central via Llandaf, Cathays and Cardiff Queen Street.
The 22:42 Coryton to Penarth will terminate at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run from Cardiff Central to Penarth.
The 22:49 Barry Island to Caerphilly will terminate at Cardiff Central. A replacement bus will run from Cardiff Central to Ystrad Mynach.
The 22:52 Aberdare to Cardiff Central will terminate at Radyr. A replacement bus will run from Radyr to Cardiff Central via Danescourt, Fairwater, Waun-Gron Park and Ninian Park.
The 23:12 Pontypridd to Cardiff Central will terminate at Radyr. A replacement bus will run from Radyr to Cardiff Central via Llandaf, Cathays and Cardiff Queen Street.
The 23:30 Cardiff Central to Barry Island will be replaced by a bus throughout.
The 23:36 Penarth to Cardiff Central service will be replaced by a bus.

If you are travelling from Manchester Airport / East Didsbury, you are advised to use other operators' services.
Tuesday to Friday:
The 00:26 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will be replaced by a bus throughout.
The 00:26 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will be replaced by a bus throughout.
The 03:51 Chester to Manchester Airport will be replaced by a bus between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly. For East Didsbury / Manchester Airport, you should use other operators' services to complete their journeys.
The 04:55 Chester to Manchester Airport retimed to depart at 05:00, and will terminate at Manchester Oxford Road. If you are travelling to / from Manchester Piccadilly, East Didsbury or Manchester Airport, you should change onto other operators services at Manchester Oxford Road.
The 06:25 Manchester Airport to Llandudno will start from Manchester Oxford Road at 06:48. If you are travelling from Manchester Airport, East Didsbury or Manchester Piccadilly, you should use other operators services to connect into this train.

Rhymney line transformation: Buses replace trains between Caerphilly and Rhymney from Saturday 19 July to Sunday 31 August
Engineering work is taking place between Caerphilly and Rhymney, closing all lines from Saturday 19 July to Sunday 31 August (except Friday 1 August when lines are open for an event).
For the duration, when the lines are closed, buses will replace trains between Caerphilly and Rhymney, calling at all stations.
Background Information:
The Rhymney line is being upgraded as part of the next phase of the South Wales Metro. This six-week line closure is part of an intensive 8-month programme of engineering work on the upper Rhymney line, from Caerphilly to Rhymney.
The work taking place includes installing Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) to electrify the line, upgrading the track and signalling, and making station and infrastructure improvements. This will allow the introduction of brand-new tri-mode trains onto the Rhymney line, powered by electricity from the OLE, battery and diesel.

The 20:38 Milford Haven to Cardiff Central will be diverted between Llantwit Major.
The 21:46 Fishguard Harbour to Cardiff Central will be diverted between Llanelli and Port Talbot Parkway, with rail replacement buses in operation between these two stations via Swansea providing connections into and out of these services. This service will also be diverted between Bridgend and Cardiff Central with extended journey times.
The 22:27 Cardiff Central to Carmarthen will depart 3 minutes later at 22:30 and be retimed throughout.
The 22:40 Swansea to Carmarthen will not run and will be replaced by a bus throughout.
The 23:16 Cardiff Central to Maesteg will be replaced with a rail replacement bus, departing Cardiff Central at 23:20.
The 23:20 Cardiff Central to Carmarthen will be diverted between Llantwit Major and also between Llanelli and Port Talbot Parkway, with rail replacement buses in operation between these two stations via Swansea providing connections into and out of these services. Customers should note that these services will also be diverted between Cardiff Central and Bridgend with extended journey times, and that they should therefore check their journeys accordingly.
The 23:45 Swansea to Carmarthen will not run and will be replaced by a bus.
Tuesday to Friday:
The 04:38 Carmarthen to Swansea will not run and will be replaced by a bus throughout.

Buses replace late night / early morning train services between Shrewsbury and Crewe on Sunday 10 and Monday 11 August
Engineering work is taking place between Shrewsbury and Crewe, closing some lines overnight.
From 23:45 Sunday evening until 04:55 Monday morning, buses will replace trains between Shrewsbury and Crewe.

Amended Transport for Wales service between Cardiff Central and Newport from Monday 9 to Friday 13 June
Engineering work is taking place between Severn Tunnel Junction and Bristol Parkway / Filton Abbey Wood, closing all lines.
An amended and reduced service will run between Cardiff Central and Newport, with extended journey times. Trains will be retimed to run earlier or later than usual.
Trains between Cardiff Central and Swansea (and beyond) will also be retimed as a result of this work.

Buses replace late night / early morning trains between Crewe and Chester from Monday 11 to Thursday 14 August
Engineering work is taking place between Crewe and Chester, closing some lines overnight.
From Monday to Wednesday, the 23:30 Crewe to Chester service will not run, and a replacement bus will run throughout.
From Tuesday to Thursday, the first service between Chester and Crewe will be bus replaced throughout.
