South Wales Metro Upgrade Work: Buses replace trains between Caerphilly and Rhymney from Saturday 12 April to Friday 23 May
Engineering work is taking place between Caerphilly and Rhymney, closing all lines. Background information on this work can be found below.
Buses will replace trains between Caerphilly and Rhymney on all days, apart from Saturday 19 April and Saturday 10 May. On these days, a normal service will operate apart from a few early morning buses, which will replace train services.

Background Information:
The Rhymney line is being upgraded as part of the next phase of the South Wales Metro. An intensive 8-month programme of engineering work is underway on the upper Rhymney line, from Caerphilly to Rhymney station.
This work will allow for the introduction of brand new tri-mode trains onto the Rhymney line, powered by electricity from the overhead lines, battery and diesel. These trains will deliver improved comfort, accessibility and reliability.

Vital Maintenance Work: Buses replace trains between Cardiff Central / Newport and Ebbw Vale Town from Sunday 27 April to Thursday 1 May

Background Information
Vital maintenance work will close the Ebbw Vale line from Sunday 27 April until Thursday 1 May inclusive. Train services will return to normal on the morning of Friday 2 May.
The closure of the line will allow Network Rail teams to renew sections of the railway in the Crosskeys station area. Other tasks along the line will be completed, including the management of trees and plants to maintain visibility for train drivers and users of level crossings. Drainage maintenance will also be taking place to manage water levels next to the track, as well as lubrication and testing of the tracks to keep the railway efficient. By doing lots of work during one closure, disruption will be kept to a minimum for passengers and people who live close by.
During the line closure a replacement bus service will be in place between Cardiff Central, Newport, and Ebbw Vale Town stations.

Engineering work is taking place between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly, closing all lines overnight from Monday evening until Friday morning.
Monday to Thursday:
- The 21:09 Birmingham International Airport to Manchester Piccadilly will terminate at Chester
- The 21:52 Chester to Manchester Airport will not run
- The 23:20 Manchester Airport to Holyhead service will terminate at Chester
Replacement buses will run between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly. You should use other train services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
Tuesday to Friday:
- The 00:26 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will not run
- The 03:51 Chester to Manchester Airport will not run
- The 04:55 Chester to Manchester Airport service will be retimed to start at 05:00, and will terminate at Manchester Oxford Road
- The 06:25 Manchester Airport to Llandudno will start from Manchester Oxford Road at 06:48

Engineering work is taking place at several places in the Cardiff Central / Radyr / Barry areas, closing various lines overnight from Monday evening until Friday morning.
As a result:
- The 20:21 Aberdare to Merthyr Tydfil service will now terminate at Pontypridd. A replacement bus will run from Pontypridd to Merthyr Tydfil
- The 20:38 Merthyr Tydfil to Aberdare service will terminate at Radyr. A replacement bus will run from Radyr to Aberdare
- The 21:21 Aberdare to Merthyr Tydfil service will now terminate at Radyr. A replacement bus will run from Radyr to Merthyr Tydfil
- The 21:38 Merthyr Tydfil to Aberdare service will terminate at Radyr. A replacement bus will run from Radyr to Aberdare

Trains between Cardiff Central and Taunton / Exeter St Davids (and beyond) will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton / Exeter St Davids (and beyond). An alternative train service will run between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads via Gloucester to connect to trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton / Exeter St Davids (and beyond).
You can use your ticket on local bus services between Patchway and Bristol Parkway at no extra cost.

Background Information:
The railway in and around Bristol is being transformed over the next few years to pave the way for more train services. The following amendments will be in operation:

The 21:09 Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly will terminate at Chester, a replacement bus will run to Manchester Piccadilly, please note this will not call at Warrington Bank Quay due to station opening hours.
The 23:20 Manchester Airport to Holyhead will be replaced by a bus between Manchester Piccadilly (passengers from Manchester Airport and East Didsbury are advised to use other operators services) and Chester, with the service onward to Holyhead starting from Chester at 00:52 following the arrival of the inward connecting bus.
Tuesday to Friday
The 00:26 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester will replaced by a bus.
The 03:51 Chester to Manchester Airport will be replaced by a bus terminating at Manchester Piccadilly, if you are travelling to East Didsbury or Manchester Airport, you are advised to use other operators' services to complete your journey.
The 04:55 Chester to Manchester Airport will be retimed to depart at 05:00 and will terminate at Manchester Oxford Road (passengers for Manchester Piccadilly, East Didsbury and Manchester Airport are advised to change onto other operators services at Manchester Oxford Road).
