South Wales Metro Project: Buses replace trains between Radyr and Treherbert / Aberdare / Merthyr Tydfil from Saturday 28 September to Sunday 6 October
Engineering work for the South Wales Metro project (see Background Information below) is taking place between Radyr and Treherbert / Aberdare / Merthyr Tydfil, closing all lines.
From 00:25 Saturday 28 September to 22:00 Sunday 6 October, buses will replace trains between Radyr and Treherbert / Aberdare / Merthyr Tydfil.

Background Information:
To enable Transport for Wales to increase the number of services travelling between Merthyr Tydfil / Aberdare / Treherbert and Cardiff, essential works need to be undertaken through Pontypridd station and at other key locations across these lines.
These works will mean that no trains will run between Merthyr Tydfil, Aberdare or Treherbert and Radyr for 9 days (but not the 23 days previously communicated).

Wednesday and Thursday
- 22:43 Llandovery to Swansea to run as scheduled to Llanelli and then diverts to Carmarthen with rail replacement bus between Llanelli and Swansea.
- 23:15 Cardiff Central to Carmarthen will be diverted from Port Talbot to Llanelli, a rail replacement bus service will run between Port Talbot and Swansea.
Thursday and Friday
- 05:02 Swansea to Llandovery will now start from Carmarthen with bus from Swansea to Llanelli to meet connection.
- 05:28 Swansea to Milford Haven will now start from Carmarthen, a replacement bus will connect from Swansea.
- 05:41 Swansea to Pembroke Dock will start from Carmarthen with rail replacement bus between Swansea and Carmarthen.
- 05:47 Swansea to Shrewsbury now starts from Carmarthen with rail replacement bus service running between Swansea and Llanelli to meet connection.

Amended early morning trains in the Swansea / Carmarthen area on Monday 7 October
Engineering work is taking place between Swansea and Carmarthen, closing all lines early on Monday morning.
As a result:
- The 04:47 Carmarthen to Llandovery service will be amended to start from Swansea at 04:52. Two replacement buses will run, one fast to Llanelli (connecting with the 05:13 Llanelli to Llandovery service), and one stopping at all stations.
- The 04:50 Carmarthen to Milford Haven will be replaced by 2 buses, one calling at Whitland, Haverfordwest and Johnston only, and one stopping at all stations.
- The 05:54 Milford Haven to Cardiff Central service will start from Carmarthen at 06:52. A replacement bus will run from Milford Haven at 05:02 to Carmarthen, calling at all stations. A second bus will run from Milford Haven to Carmarthen at 05:22 (direct). Both buses will connect with the train.

Engineering work is taking place between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Pontyclun, closing some lines.
Great Western Railway
Services between London Paddington and Swansea / Carmarthen will divert between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Barry, and will terminate / start at Swansea. Journey times to Swansea will be extended by approximately 35 minutes.
Services departing Swansea, Neath, Port Talbot Parkway and Bridgend will depart earlier than usual.
Saturday only:
- The 05:52, 06:44 and 07:50 Swansea to London Paddington services will not run.
- The 07:04 Bristol Temple Meads to Swansea service will start from Bristol Parkway at 07:03, and will divert as above.
- The 17:18 London Paddington to Carmarthen service will not run.
- The 18:18 and 19:18 London Paddington to Swansea services will not run.
If you are travelling to / from Carmarthen, you should use alternative services between Swansea and Carmarthen to complete your journey.
Sunday only:
- The 08:35 Swansea to London Paddington service will not run.
- The 08:58 Bristol Parkway to Swansea service will divert as above.
Transport for Wales
Amended services between Cardiff Central and Bridgend will be diverted and retimed via Barry, with services between Maesteg and Cardiff Central terminating / starting at Bridgend. Journey times will be extended by approximately 30 minutes.

Engineering work is taking place between Liverpool Lime Street and Broad Green / Mossley Hill, closing most lines.

TransPennine Express:
There will be no TransPennine Express services between Manchester stations and Liverpool Lime Street. Trains towards Liverpool Lime Street will be diverted to start / terminate at Manchester Piccadilly. A shuttle train service will be in operation between Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Central. A rail replacement bus service will be in operation between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Victoria.

08:15 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington, also 08:58 and 09:58 Great Malvern to London Paddington will operate as normal.
10:58 Great Malvern to London Paddington will start from Oxford. After this time, except where shown below, trains between London Paddington and Worcester Shrub Hill / Foregate Street / Great Malvern / Hereford will terminate / start Worcestershire Parkway.
Road transport will operate (hourly) between Worcestershire Parkway, Worcester Shrub Hill (18mins), Worcester Foregate Street (28mins), Malvern Link (48mins) and Great Malvern (58mins after leaving Worcestershire Parkway).
West Midlands Railway will be operating trains between Worcester Foregate Street and stations to / from Hereford.
At Worcester Foregate Street and Malvern Link, buses from Worcestershire Parkway will stop to set down only and most buses to Worcestershire Parkway will stop to pick up only.
Also trains:
- 20:50 London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill will terminate Oxford. Customers for beyond Oxford travel by earlier or later services.
- 21:50 London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill will terminate Evesham. Road transport will run from Evesham to Pershore, Worcestershire Parkway and Worcester Shrub Hill.
Transport for Wales:
The 08:23 Cardiff Central to Cheltenham Spa service will be replaced by a bus between Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa.
The 10:38 Cheltenham Spa to Cardiff Central service will start from Gloucester. An earlier replacement bus will run from Cheltenham Spa to Gloucester.
West Midlands Railway:
Train services between Hereford / Great Malvern / Worcester Foregate Street and Birmingham New Street / Dorridge / Stratford-Upon-Avon will not call at Worcester Shrub Hill.
Trains between Worcester Shrub Hill and Great Malvern / Hereford / Dorridge / Stratford-upon-Avon / Leamington Spa will start from / terminate at Worcester Foregate Street, instead of Worcester Shrub Hill. You should use Worcester Foregate Street station instead of Worcester Shrub Hill.

Trains between London Euston / Northampton and Crewe will run between London Euston / Northampton and Stafford only.
Rail replacement buses will operate between Stafford and Crewe / Liverpool South Parkway.
You are advised to travel on Merseyrail train services between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Central.
Train services between Stafford and Crewe (via Stoke-on-Trent) will not run and rail replacement buses will operate.

Amended early morning Transport for Wales service via Cardiff Central on Sunday 22 December
Engineering work is taking place on Sunday morning until 09:10 between Bridgend and Cardiff Central via Barry, closing all lines.
The following amendments will be in place:
The 08:29 Cardiff Central to Barry Island is cancelled and replaced by a bus.
The 08:39 Cardiff Central to Bridgend is cancelled and replaced by a bus.
The 08:49 Barry Island to Caerphilly, now starts at Cardiff Central with road replacement transport in place between Barry Island and Cardiff Central. The bus service will leave Barry Island at 08:27 to connect into service now starting at Cardiff Central.
The 09:19 Barry Island to Rhymney, now starts at Cardiff Central with road replacement transport in place between Barry Island and Cardiff Central. The bus service will leave Barry Island at 08:57 to connect into service now starting at Cardiff Central.

Engineering work is taking place overnight between Manchester Piccadilly and Chester, closing some lines.
Monday:
The 21:09 Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly service, will now terminate at Chester with road replacement transport between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly.
The 23:20 Manchester Airport to Holyhead service, will start at Chester with road replacement transport between Manchester Piccadilly and Chester. The bus service will leave Manchester Piccadilly at 22:20 to connect into the train at Chester.
Tuesday:
The 00:26 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester service is cancelled and replaced with road transport.
The 21:09 Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly service, will now terminate at Shrewsbury with no replacement road transport in place.

No trains to / from Coryton from Monday 14 to Friday 18 October
De-Vegetation work is taking place between Coryton and Heath Low Level, closing all lines.
The above works are taking place in readiness for the eventual electrification of the route.
Monday to Friday:
No rail service between Coryton and Cardiff Queen Street all week. Ticket acceptance is in place with Cardiff Buses (routes 21, 23 and 27).
A reduced service will operate between Cardiff Central and Penarth, 2 trains per hour, with half hourly peak time buses running between 07:00 and 10:00 as well as 15:30 to 18:30. (These buses run half hourly departing xx.05 and xx.35 between the specified times).
There is no effect to the Caerphilly / Bargoed / Rhymney route.
Monday night only:
Trains will run between 19:30 and 23:30 (Trains will run to Friday timetable for this route) on Monday night only due to an international football match taking place in Cardiff.
Ticket acceptance on Cardiff Buses is withdrawn post 19:30 on Monday only for this reason.
