Amended late night Transport for Wales service to / from Manchester Piccadilly from Monday 9 to Thursday 12 December
Engineering work is taking place late at night between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly, closing some lines.
The 17:00 Milford Haven to Manchester Piccadilly will terminate at Crewe, with onward bus replacement being provided to Wilmslow, Stockport (set down only) and Manchester Piccadilly.
The 22:32 Manchester Piccadilly to Shrewsbury will start from Crewe at 23:18. A replacement bus will depart Stockport at 21:58 calling at Wilmslow. You are advised to use other train operator service between Manchester Piccadilly and Stockport to connect with this bus.

Engineering work is taking place overnight between Shrewsbury and Chester, closing some lines.
The 21:09 Birmingham International to Manchester Piccadilly service will divert after Shrewsbury via Crewe. A replacement bus service will be provided between Shrewsbury and Chester.
The 22:32 Chester to Shrewsbury train service will not run and will be replaced by a bus.
The 23:40 Shrewsbury to Chester train service will not run and will be replaced by a bus.

Buses replace trains between Machynlleth and Pwllheli from 16:45 on Sunday 8 until 07:30 on Monday 16 December
Engineering work is taking place between Machynlleth and Pwllheli, closing all lines.
From Monday 9 to Sunday 15 December, buses will replace trains between Machynlleth and Pwllheli. A mixture of fast and stopping buses will run.
On Sunday 8 December, the 16:52 and 18:55 Machynlleth to Pwllheli services will be replaced by buses.
On Monday 16 December, the 06:29 and 07:29 Pwllheli to Machynlleth services will be replaced by buses. These replacement buses will run earlier than usual in order to connect with train services at Machynlleth.

Engineering work is taking place overnight between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Pontyclun, closing some lines.
The following services are affected:
Monday to Thursday
- The 20:30 Milford Haven to Cardiff Central service will be diverted between Bridgend and Cardiff Central.
- The 23:16 Cardiff Central to Maesteg service will start from Bridgend at 23:44. A replacement bus service will run from Cardiff Central to Bridgend via Pontyclun, departing at 22:39.
- The 23:20 Cardiff Central to Swansea service will run direct to Bridgend via Barry. A replacement bus service will run from Cardiff Central to Bridgend via Pontyclun, calling at all stops.
Tuesday to Friday
- The 05:43 Swansea to Manchester Piccadilly service will run as two separate services; the 05:43 Swansea to Cardiff Central and the 06:47 Cardiff Central to Manchester Piccadilly services.

Major Crewe Area Resignalling Work: Amended service via Crewe from Friday 27 December until Thursday 2 January
Engineering work is taking place in and around Crewe between Christmas and New Year, closing various lines. Background information on the work at Crewe, and at other locations on the West Coast Main Line, has been published by Network Rail.

Services will start from around 08:00.
Replacement buses will run between:
- Stoke-on-Trent and Preston via Crewe

- Wilmslow and Macclesfield
The following services will operate in both directions (unless stated):
Manchester Piccadilly - London Euston:
1 train per hour calling at Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke-on-Trent, Stafford, Nuneaton and Milton Keynes Central.
1 train per hour calling at Stockport, Macclesfield, Stoke-on-Trent, Rugby and Milton Keynes Central.
Glasgow Central - London Euston:
1 train per hour diverted via Manchester stations (not calling).
North Wales Coast route:
A very limited service between Holyhead and Chester.
Wolverhampton / Birmingham New Street - London Euston:
2 trains per hour between Birmingham New Street and London Euston, with one service extended every two hours to Wolverhampton.
Edinburgh - Preston:
1 train every 2 hours running between Edinburgh and Preston.
Liverpool Lime Street - London Euston:
There will be no Liverpool Lime Street service.
Avanti West Coast services are unable to call at Lichfield Trent Valley or Tamworth stations. These stations will be served by London Northwestern Railway.
Saturday 28 December to Tuesday 31 December
Buses will replace trains between:
- Wolverhampton and Stafford
- Wilmslow and Macclesfield
The following services will operate in both directions (unless stated):
Manchester Piccadilly - London Euston:
Reduced service of 2 trains per hour, both via Stoke-on-Trent.
Glasgow Central - London Euston:
Trains will be diverted extending journey times with an additional call at Crewe.
A few late night buses will run between Preston and Crewe on Sunday 29 December.
North Wales Coast route:
Trains will operate between Holyhead and Crewe.
Wolverhampton / Birmingham New Street - London Euston:
Some services will be withdrawn.
Edinburgh - Preston:
Services will run between Edinburgh and Preston.
Liverpool Lime Street - London Euston:
Trains will be diverted via an alternative route.
A replacement bus will run from Crewe at 22:55 for Liverpool Lime Street on Saturday 28 December.
Wednesday 1 January and Thursday 2 January
Buses will replace trains between:
- Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street
- Wilmslow and Macclesfield
- Crewe and Preston (Wednesday) / Wigan Northwestern (Thursday)
Liverpool Lime Street - London Euston:
There will be no Liverpool Lime Street service.

Train services between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street will run between Birmingham New Street and Stafford only (at a reduced level of frequency).

Train services between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street will run between Birmingham New Street and Crewe only (at a reduced level of frequency).

East Midlands Railway
Buses will replace trains between Stoke-on-Trent and Crewe on Friday 27 December only. As well as this:
- The 07:05 Crewe to Newark Castle will start at Uttoxeter at 07:53, no longer calling at Crewe, Alsager, Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent, Longton or Blythe Bridge. A connecting rail replacement bus will run between Uttoxeter and Crewe, calling at missing stations.
- The 21:19 Nottingham to Crewe will terminate at Blythe Bridge, no longer calling at Longton, Stoke on Trent, Kidsgrove, Alsager and Crewe. A connecting rail replacement bus will run between Uttoxeter and Crewe, calling at missing stations.
Northern
Buses replace trains between Sandbach and Crewe on Friday 27 December only, this line reopens on Saturday 28 December
Transport for Wales:
Friday 27 December
All Manchester Piccadilly services will start / terminate at Shrewsbury with road replacement transport in place between Shrewsbury and Stockport. Ticket acceptance will be in place at Stockport for passengers wishing to travel to Manchester Piccadilly.
Crewe to Chester / Shrewsbury shuttles are cancelled with road replacement transport in place.
North Wales Coast services will now start / terminate at Chester with road replacement transport between Chester and Crewe.
Saturday 28 December to Tuesday 31 December
Buses will replace trains between Shrewsbury and Crewe.
Northbound services to Manchester Piccadilly will divert via Chester and terminate at Crewe.
Southbound services from Manchester Piccadilly will start at Crewe and divert via Chester.
A shuttle train service will operate between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly all day at the usual times.
CrossCountry
Trains will be diverted and wont call at Crewe on Friday 27 December only.
There are only 2 CrossCountry trains that would normally call at Crewe, these are:
- 05:11 Manchester Piccadilly to Bournemouth which would call at Crewe at 05:44
- 07:26 Birmingham New Street to Manchester Piccadilly, which would call at Crewe at 08:26

Monday and Thursday only:
The 18:35 Shrewsbury to Swansea service will terminate at Carmarthen, and will not call at Swansea. A replacement bus will run from Llanelli to Swansea to allow customers to connect with the train, departing 22:46.
The 22:30 Cardiff Central to Swansea service will terminate at Carmarthen, and will not call at Swansea. A replacement bus will run from Port Talbot Parkway to Swansea to allow customers to connect with the train, departing 23:15.
The 23:08 Swansea to Cardiff Central service will start from Carmarthen instead of Swansea. A replacement bus will run from Swansea to Port Talbot Parkway to allow customers to connect with the train, departing 23:20.
The 23:20 Swansea to Cardiff Central service will start from Carmarthen at 23:08, and will not call at Swansea. A replacement bus will run from Swansea to Port Talbot Parkway to allow customers to connect with the train, departing 00:12 Tuesday and Friday morning.
Tuesday and Friday only:
The 04:50 Swansea to Shrewsbury service will start from Carmarthen at 04:30, and will not call at Swansea. A replacement bus will depart Swansea at 04:27 to connect with the train at Llanelli.

New Years Eve shut down takes effect by 23:00. Train services that are in operation will have replacement buses. Morning Services will see a replacement bus until the line reopens at 08:00.

The 21:09 Birmingham International Airport to Manchester Piccadilly service will terminate at Warrington Bank Quay. A replacement bus will run from Warrington Bank Quay to Manchester Piccadilly.
The 23:20 Manchester Airport to Holyhead will be replaced by a bus between Manchester Piccadilly and Chester. An additional train service will run from Chester at 00:40 to Holyhead, connecting from the replacement bus. If you are travelling from Manchester Airport or East Didsbury you should use other train services.
Tuesday to Friday:
The 00:26 Manchester Piccadilly to Chester service will be replaced by a bus throughout.
The 03:51 Chester to Manchester Airport service will be replaced by a bus between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly. For East Didsbury and Manchester Airport, you should use other operators services to complete your journeys.
The 04:55 Chester to Manchester Airport service will be retimed to depart at 05:00, and will terminate at Manchester Oxford Road. For Manchester Piccadilly, East Didsbury and Manchester Airport, you should use other services, changing at Manchester Oxford Road.
The 06:25 Manchester Airport to Llandudno service will start from Manchester Oxford Road. For Manchester Airport, East Didsbury and Manchester Piccadilly, you are advised to use other services to connect with this train.

The 23:36 Penarth to Cardiff Central departs 2 minutes earlier at 23:34 and departs earlier from Dingle Road and Grangetown.

The 23:54 Cardiff Bay to Cardiff Central will terminate at Cardiff Queen Street with no direct onward replacement transport to Cardiff Central.
