Update: Incident due to a safety inspection of the track at Shrewsbury (SHR) until 12:00.

Due to a safety inspection of the track at Shrewsbury (SHR):

Services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Crewe (CRE).

We expect the incident to last until 12:00 and disruption to services is expected until 13:00.

What's Happened?

We have been made aware of a broken rail at Shrewsbury.

For safety, train services will be running more slowly than normal through the area, with residual delays of around 30 minutes to be expected.

Our colleagues at Network Rail are aware of the problem and Technicians are currently en route to the affected area of track.

Please continue to travel as planned, but expect delays and cancellations on your journey.

We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from the infrastructure technicians.

Alternative Travel Options

Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:

  • West Midlands Railway between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street.
  • London Northwestern Railway Between Birmingham International and Crewe.

Your ticket can also be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:

  • Avanti West Coast between Crewe and Manchester Picadilly.
  • Northern Between Crewe and Manchester Picadilly.

These arrangements are in place on services until 14:00.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

New: Incident due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Cardiff Central (CDF) and Cheltenham Spa (CNM) until 11:30.

Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Cardiff Central (CDF) and Cheltenham Spa (CNM):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Cardiff Central (CDF) and Cheltenham Spa (CNM).

We expect the incident to last until 11:30 and disruption to services is expected from 08:00 until 11:30.

What's Happened?

Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time the 08:10 Service from Cardiff Central to Cheltenham spa and the 09:40 service from Cheltenham Spa to Cardiff are cancelled.

  • CrossCountry between Cardiff Central and Cheltenham Spa

These arrangements are in place on services until 10:30.

Update: Incident due to a shortage of train crew between Swansea (SWA) and Llandrindod (LLO) until 22:00.

Due to a shortage of train crew between Swansea (SWA) and Llandrindod (LLO):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Swansea (SWA) and Llandrindod (LLO).

We expect the incident to last until 22:00 and disruption to services is expected from 17:47 until the end of the day.

Alternative Travel Options:

We have organised buses to run between Swansea and Llandrindod to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These will arrive at Swansea at approximately 17:47 travelling as far as Llandrindod, provided by Gower. When arriving into Llandrindod customers will be met by another bus that will stop as required as far as Shrewsbury. Further replacement road transport will also be arriving into Llandrindod at 20:07 travelling all stops to Swansea, provided by Francis.

These arrangements are in place on services 22:00.

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.
