Update: Incident due to severe weather between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Ebbw Vale Town (EBB) until 23:59.

Due to severe weather between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Ebbw Vale Town (EBB):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Ebbw Vale Town (EBB).

We expect the incident to last until 23:59 on 11/07/2026 and disruption to services is expected from 03:00 on 11/07/2026 until 23:59 on 11/07/2026.

What's Happened?

Due to a shortage of trains as a result of extreme heat, fewer trains are able to run between Pye Corner and Ebbw Vale Town.

Services will be cancelled from Newport to Ebbw Vale Town in both directions for the remainder of the day. Our services from Cardiff Central to Ebbw Vale Town currently remain unaffected.

Customers can travel between Cardiff Central and Newport on the next available Transport for Wales service to connect with our Cardiff Central to Ebbw Vale Town services at no extra cost.

  • Route 56 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Newport and Crosskeys via Rogerstone and Ponytmister.
  • Route X15 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Newport and Llanhilleth via Rogerstone, Crosskeys and Newbridge.
  • Route 151 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Newport and Newbridge via Pye Corner, Rogerstone, Pontymister, Risca and Crosskeys.
  • Route 1 provided by Newport Bus between Newport and Rogerstone via Pye Corner.

Due to severe weather between Wolverhampton (WVH) and Birmingham International (BHI):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Wolverhampton (WVH) and Birmingham International (BHI).

We expect the incident to last until 20:00 and disruption to services is expected from 03:23 until the end of the day.

What's Happened?

We expect to have a reduced number of trains available on Saturday 11th July whilst our depot teams work to ensure our on board air conditioning is fully functional.

This means Transport For Wales services will start and terminate at Wolverhampton instead of Birmingham New Street or Birmingham International today.

Rail services between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury are expected to be busy meaning conditions on board could be very warm. Customers who are feeling unwell should consider whether they need to travel. If you do travel, you should bring water, stay hydrated and speak to a member of the onboard team immediately if you begin to feel unwell.

Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham International in both directions
  • Avanti West Coast services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham International in both directions

These arrangements are in place on services until the end of the day.

Due to severe weather between Machynlleth (MCN) and Aberystwyth (AYW):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Machynlleth (MCN) and Aberystwyth (AYW).

We expect the incident to last until the end of the day and disruption to services is expected from 03:00 until the end of the day.

What's Happened?

We expect to have a reduced number of trains available on Saturday 11th July whilst our depot teams work to ensure our on board air conditioning is fully functional.

No rail services will run between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth on Saturday.

Alternative Travel Options

  • Route T2 and T28 provided by Lloyds Coaches between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth.

These arrangements are in place on services all day on Saturday 11th July.

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Chester (CTR) and Wrexham General (WRX).

We expect the incident to last until the end of the day and disruption to services is expected from 03:00 until the end of the day.

What's Happened?

Due to a short-notice change to the timetable between Pontypridd (PPD) and Cardiff Bay (CDB):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Pontypridd (PPD) and Cardiff Queen Street (CDQ).

We expect the incident to last until 23:59 on 11/07/2026 and disruption to services is expected until 23:59 on 11/07/2026.

There will be no direct service from Pontypridd to Cardif Bay. Passengers are advised to change services at Cardiff Queen Street for Cardiff Bay.
