Due to a broken down train at Machynlleth (MCN):
Services may be delayed by up to 80 minutes.
We expect the incident to last until 13:00 and disruption to services is expected until 16:00.
What's Happened?
A train has broken down at Talerddig between Machynlleth and Caersws meaning services in the area are subject to disruption and may be cancelled, delayed or revised. This is currently affecting services on our Birmingham International to Aberystwyth/Pwllheli services.
The broken down train has now been moved off the line and trains are able to run through the area again. We expect residual delays of up to 80 minutes on services travelling through Machynlleth until 16:00.

Due to a fault with the signalling system at Wellington (Shropshire) (WLN):
Services will be cancelled in both directions between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Birmingham International (BHI).
We expect the incident to last until 18:00 and disruption to services is expected until 18:00.
What's Happened?
We have been made aware of a signalling problem at Wellington.
To allow our colleagues at Network Rail to fix the issue, we are reducing the number of services running between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International.
This is affecting services on our Birmingham International to Aberystwyth and Pwllheli, Holyhead to Birmingham International and Llandudno Junction to Birmingham International routes in both directions. Trains will be cancelled between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International and we expect this disruption to last until 18:00. Please continue to travel as planned, but expect delays and cancellations on your journey.
Please be aware that West Midlands Railway are also affected by this incident. You can check your journey with any operator at tfw.wales.
Alternative Travel Options:
Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:
- Shrewsbury to Birmingham International in both directions with West Midlands Railway
- Birmingham International to Crewe in both directions with Avanti West Coast
- Birmingham New Street to Manchester Piccadilly in both directions with CrossCountry
These arrangements are in place on services until 18:00.
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Cardiff Central (CDF) and Newport (South Wales) (NWP).
We expect the incident to last until 23:59 on 07/08/2026 and disruption to services is expected until 23:59 on 07/08/2026.
What's Happened?
Following a lineside fire in the Marshfield area between Cardiff Central and Newport, fewer services are able to run.
Due to limited number of service being able to run between Cardiff Central and Newport, fewer services are able to run between Cardiff Central and Shrewsbury and Ebbw Vale Town and Maesteg.
Our Cardiff - Holyhead services will be starting/terminating at Shrewsbury. Our Cardiff - Manchester Piccadilly services currently remain unaffected in both directions.
Our Ebbw Vale to Maesteg services will only be able to run between Cardiff Central and Maesteg, with our Newport to Ebbw Vale services running as normal.
We apologise for the disruption caused to your journey.
Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:
- Great Western Railway services between Cardiff Central and Cheltenham Spa via Bristol in both directions
- CrossCountry between Cardiff Central and Cheltenham Spa
These arrangements are in place on services until the end of the day.
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.
Road transport provision is extremely limited at this time and we advise customers to postpone their journeys unless essential.

You can use the following local bus services to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost:
Route X24 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Newport and Pontypool via Cwmbran.
Route 21 and X3 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Pontypool and Cwmbran.
Route 23 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Cwmbran and Hereford via Abergavenny.
Route X3 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Cardiff, Pontypool and Cwmbran.
Route 11 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Cwmbran and Pontypool.
Route 30 provided by Cardiff Bus between Cardiff and Newport.
Route X30 provided by Newport bus between Newport and Cardiff.
This is in place until the end of the day.

We have limited road transport running between Newport and Gloucester provided by Cymru Coaches, to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost until 18:25.
