Due to a safety inspection of the track at Rhyl (RHL):

Services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

We expect the incident to last until the end of the day and disruption to services is expected until the end of the day.

What's Happened?

For safety, train services will be running more slowly than normal through the area at Rhyl, with residual delays of around 30 minutes to be expected.

Please continue to travel as planned, but expect delays and cancellations on your journey.

We apologise for the disruption caused to your journey.

Bus Rail Replacement

We have organised buses to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These have been provided as follows:

At Chester, provided by Pats
At Llandudno Junction, provided by Carmel Travel

These arrangements are in place on services until the end of the day.

Bus Ticket Acceptance

You can use the following local bus services to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost:

Route 4 and 4A provided by Arriva Bus Wales between Holyhead and Bangor.
Route 5 and 5D provided by Arriva Bus Wales between Bangor and Llandudno Junction.
Route 13 provided by Arriva Bus Wales between Llandudno Junction and Rhyl.
Route 11C and 11F provided by Arriva Bus Wales between Rhyl and Flint.
Route 11 provided by Arriva Bus Wales between Flint and Chester.

Rail Ticket Acceptance

Your ticket can also be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:

Merseyrail between Chester and Liverpool in both directions until 20:00
West Midlands Railway between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street in both directions until 20:30
Northern between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport until 21:30

If one of our trains is delayed or cancelled and you arrive at your destination station more than 15 minutes later than scheduled, you can claim compensation through 'Delay Repay'. Delay Repay | TfW

Check services running in the area using the Transport for Wales Live Map or plan your journey and purchase tickets for any service, not just TfW at www.tfw.wales.

Services from other operators and on other parts of the network may also be disrupted. Check your journey at www.tfw.wales.

If you decide not to travel because of this disruption and your ticket is unused, you can obtain a fee free refund from wherever you purchased your ticket.

Cancelled service notification

You can either obtain a full fee-free refund if an alternative service is unsuitable or you'll be permitted to travel on the previous two or next two available services to the one that is cancelled, at no extra cost.

For a full refund you'll need to phone 03333 211 202 option 2 (tickets and online enquiries) and inform us that you've received a 'cancelled service' notification.
Or you can tell the Conductor of the cancelled notification when presenting your ticket if you've chosen to travel on another service.

Your journey time has changed notification

You can either obtain a full fee-free refund if the re-timed service is unsuitable for you or you can travel on the re-timed service with no additional cost.

For a full refund you'll need to phone 03333 211 202 option 2 (tickets and online enquiries) and inform us that you've received a 'Your journey time has changed' notification.

Your train will no longer be stopping at notification

You can either obtain a full fee-free refund or you can get on/off the train at the nearest station.
