Cadw 2-for-1 entry

Introduction

We’ve partnered with Cadw to offer 2-for-1 entry with the purchase of a rail ticket, to promote the culture and heritage of Wales.

Well-being goals

A Wales of vibrant culture and Welsh Language

With more than 600 castles, Wales has more castles per square mile than any other country in Europe. We boast some of Europe's finest surviving examples of medieval castle construction as well as abbeys, chapels and some of the most atmospheric ancient monuments that visitors have been seeking out for thousands of years.

Transport for Wales is proud to support our heritage sites by encouraging visitors to experience them.  The Welsh railway network not only provides access to many of these locations, but also offers an experience to take in the Welsh landscape en route.

We've partnered with Cadw to offer 2-for-1 entry at any of their sites at different times of the year. During the promotion, customers can present a train ticket at any of Cadw’s 130 paid heritage sites and are able to take advantage of this exciting offer and gain free entry when accompanied by another person paying the full entry charge.

Ways of working

Collaboration Integration

During  Recycle Week 2019, we teamed up with Cadw and Recycle for Wales to offer a group of savvy recyclers and budding explorers a fantastic prize: a TfW Explore Wales Pass for two adults, and a Cadw Explorer Pass to visit some of Wales’ most amazing castles and historic attractions for a group of two adults and two children. The competition winner, Kerstin, suggested some great tips for using old containers.

More information on our partnership with Cadw can be found here.

We encourage TfW passengers to take advantage of this deal and explore the great history that Wales has to offer.
