Due to a broken rail between Chepstow (CPW) and Caldicot (CDT):
Services may be delayed by up to 60 minutes.
Services may be cancelled in both directions between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Cheltenham Spa (CNM).
We expect the incident to last until 20:30 and disruption to services is expected until 22:30.
What's Happened?
We have been made aware of a broken rail between Chepstow and Caldicot.
For safety, train services will not be able to run through the area until it has been fixed.
Our colleagues at Network Rail Infrastructure are aware of the problem and technicians are currently en route to the affected area of track with an update expected at 20:30.
Services on our Cardiff Central to Cheltenham Spa route are disrupted in both directions. We expect the incident to be cleared by 21:30. Train services may be cancelled or delayed in the area until approximately 23:00.
We are currently sourcing replacement road transport.
Alternative Travel Options:
Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:
- Cardiff Central to Bristol Parkway and Bristol Parkway to Gloucester in both directions with GWR..
- Cardiff Central to Cheltenham Spa in both directions with CrossCountry..
These arrangements are in place on services until the end of the day.
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.
We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from the infrastructure technicians.
