TfW FOI Request - CVL Asset Transfer

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request of 14 September 2019. You requested the following information:

Did it [CVL asset transfer] happen on time?

I am writing to confirm that your request has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act) and that Transport for Wales (TfW) has completed its search for the information and has the information requested.

Transport for Wales and Network Rail continue to work collaboratively alongside government colleagues, to ensure the transfer of the CVL asset happens safely and in line with industry processes. Based on our assurance and due diligence activities to agree a new contractual framework for using the CVL and mainline networks we have now set the CVL asset transfer date as 31 January 2020.

The January transfer date will not impact the overall CVL transformation programme end date. We have already started the preparatory work, which includes detailed survey and design work ahead of the start of the physical work on the existing infrastructure starting in 2020. We have also already commenced work on site at Taffs Well and Treforest for new depots, which are both key components of the transformation.
