Station upgrades

Date issued: 11 October2019

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request of 14 September 2019. You requested the following information:

list of stations that are being improved over the next 15 years and what improvements will be done them

I am writing to confirm that your request has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act) and that Transport for Wales (TfW) has completed its search for the information and has the information requested.

We can confirm that every one of the 247 stations across the Transport for Wales network will receive some level of improvement over the next 15 years

At this stage we cannot be specific to exactly what is delivered at each station and can only provide the principles that we are working to:

• every station will receive a deep clean;

• every station will be rebranded; and

• as part of our general station facilities programme, we will identify improvements to the following areas:

  • platform shelters and seating; o security and CCTV;
  • Customer Information Systems and signage; and
  • at relevant stations, ticket offices, toilets and waiting rooms.

A Vision Statement was produced and launched by the Minister for Economy and Transport on 16 September. The details of that statement are available here:

The requirement for Transport for Wales Rail Services to carry our station improvements is a contractual commitment as set out in the agreement between KeolisAmey Wales Cymru Ltd and the Welsh Ministers. Details can be found on pages 234-235
