• No public parking at Cardiff Central station Riverside car park (Wood Street)
    • From Monday 12 June

    • There will be no parking available to the public at the Riverside car park (Wood Street) to allow for operational staff car parking only. However, the public will still be able to drop off / pick up customers and accessible parking bays will also still be available. Please use the Penarth Rd station car park or alternative city centre car parks.

    • We’re sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    • What’s happening?

    • The Central Quay development on the old Brains Brewery site behind the station means enabling works will soon begin. A section of the Penarth Road car park, currently used by our operational staff, is required to facilitate the enabling works. As a result, operational staff car parking will be moved to the Riverside car park. Penarth Road car park will remain open to the public.

  • Cardiff Central Penarth Rd car park
    • The Central Quay development on the old Brains Brewery site behind the station has started. A section of the Penarth Road car park (55 parking spaces) is in the process of being removed to facilitate the works.

    • We’re working with our partners to explore options to help improve parking for station users during this time of redevelopment and we hope to share an update on this soon. Sorry for any inconvenience caused during the works. Please allow extra time for parking and consider alternative city centre parking options where possible.

How does this affect me?

If you’re already registered on the PayByPhone app, you can use the same details to login to your account and use the app to pay for parking across all TfW station car parks.

If you have a Season parking ticket for any TfW station car park, this will remain valid until its current expiry date. You can continue to purchase these from our ticket machines.

Taxi portal

We’ll be introducing a virtual taxi portal for the purchase of taxi permits at our station car parks.

While this is in development, we won’t be able to issue any further permits. If you’re a current taxi permit holder, please continue to display your existing permit.

Car parking restrictions

We’re carrying out infrastructure works across the Wales and borders rail network to revitalise our stations and provide faster, more frequent services that better meet the needs of our customers.

At some of our stations, there may be fewer parking spaces available as we need to provide access to the railway for our contractors.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience this causes. We’re working hard to complete these works safely, as soon as we can.

Please visit our station pages to find out if any parking restrictions are in place.
