Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Aberystwyth (AYW) and Shrewsbury (SHR):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Machynlleth (MCN) and Shrewsbury (SHR).

We expect the incident to last until 21:00 and disruption to services is expected from 19:00 until 21:30.

What's Happened?

Due to a shortage of trains at Machynlleth Depot, we have fewer trains available to run today's service. Some services between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury will be disrupted.

Our engineers are working hard to bring trains back into service as quickly as possible. We apologise for any disruption caused to your journey.

Alternative Travel Options

We have limited road transport running between Machynlleth and Shrewsbury provided by Lloyds, to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost.

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

What's Happened?

We apologise for temporary disruption on the route between Cardiff Bay and Pontypridd.

If travelling from stations between Pontypridd and Cathays, please change at Cardiff Queen Street for services to Cardiff Bay.

Customers can use local bus services between Pontypridd and Cardiff to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost:

13, 24, 25 and 52 Cardiff Bus services.
132 Stagecoach

You can use these services until end of day on 26/09/2026.

Magnificent Train Journey Winners

Back in 2021, we challenged the school children of Wales and the borders to give proud identities to over 150 brand-new trains that were joining our fleet. We asked them to come up with names for our new trains, based on either a real place, landmark or mythical figure associated with Wales and its borders. We also requested a creative explanation of why they chose the name, such as a painting or drawing, a poem or short story.
