Overview
On the Shrewsbury to Chester route, Chirk station serves the town of the same name. With two platforms and seeing almost 100,000 passengers through its doors annually, the station once had a private siding running to the Cadbury’s chocolate factory and carrying cocoa to Bournville!
Opened in 1848, the original Grade II listed building was destroyed in the late 80s by the local council, which, controversially, occurred without the relevant public consultations.
