Overview

Built to serve the town of Pantyffynnon and its tinplate works, the station is on the Heart of Wales line that runs through Carmarthenshire. It was opened in 1841 and was originally a much larger complex of buildings, including a freight yard, locomotive shed and three signal boxes. The main building was granted its Grade II status in 1996, after many of the outlying structures had been demolished. The station also received an award for conservation from the Railway Heritage Trust for its restoration of the waiting room.
