Overview

Wrexham is served by two stations, Central and General, the former being the smaller of the pair. Originally opened in 1887, the current buildings were constructed in 1998 to be part of the new retail park being constructed in the area. With nearly 100,000 people coming through its doors every year, many choose Central over Wrexham General due to its position in the centre of the town.

The area around Wrexham has a long history of habitation, developing into a large market town in the Middle Ages. A centre for steel and iron production, coal mining and beer brewing from the 18th-century, today it’s known as a hub for culture, education and Wrexham A.F.C.
