Rail
In the longer term we will continue electrification of the rail network in South West Wales in order to decarbonise and reduce the environmental impact of passenger and freight trains. We also support further electrification in SW England to Bristol Temple Meads as this will allow more use of electric trains in Wales and reduce overall journey times between the cities.
As part of the long term plan we will increasingly need to undertake work to safeguard the South Wales Mainline from the effects of climate change.
