Transport for Wales office accommodation in Pontypridd

Date issued: 16 September 2019

Thank you for your Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request of 10 September 2019. You requested the following information:

1. How many members of staff are expected to be relocated to Pontypridd.

2. Has any assessment been made of the percentage of these likely to travel by car - if so what did that assessment reveal.

3. What if any arrangements have been / are being made with regard to car parking provision at the new site.

I am writing to confirm that your request has been considered under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (the Act) and that Transport for Wales (TfW) has completed its search for the information and has the information requested. The information is set out below:

1. How many members of staff are expected to be relocated to Pontypridd?

TfW’s principal office will move from Cardiff to Pontypridd in Autumn 2020. Staff moving to the new Pontypridd office will comprise the following, who are currently based in Cardiff:

  • TfW teams - approximately 180
  • TfW Rail Services teams - approximately 130
  • Welsh Government Transport teams - who will be moving from the Welsh Government to work for TfW in 2020 - approximately 80

2. Has any assessment been made of the percentage of these likely to travel by car - if so what did that assessment reveal?

No assessment has been made to date to determine the percentage of TfW staff who will travel to Pontypridd by car. TfW does not hold any information in relation to any assessments carried out by the Welsh Government.

3. What if any arrangements have been / are being made with regard to car parking provision at the new site?

30 car parking spaces will be available at the new office in Pontypridd. Priority will be given to visitors, disabled staff and operational vehicles. The number of parking spaces for staff has not yet been determined.

Public car parks are available nearby. TfW has started to investigate annual parking costs in those car parks, so that this information will be available to staff prior to the move to help with travel planning.

Yours sincerely

Transport for Wales
