What is Club 50?

The off-peak travel offer for everyone aged 50 and over TfW Club 50 is a promotional ticket available at certain times of the year.

Travel using a Club 50 ticket is not permitted before 0930 Monday to Friday. There are no travel restrictions on weekends or bank holidays. Club 50 tickets cannot be used for return journeys to/from or via Cardiff on Saturday 30 November due to a major sporting event taking place.

There’s no limit on the number of TfW Club 50 tickets you can buy, which means you can do more of what’s important to you for less. Whether that’s visiting friends and family, a weekend city break or exploring the beautiful coast.

      • Who can travel with a TfW Club 50 ticket?
        Anyone aged 50 and over can travel with a Club 50 ticket. You will need to carry proof of age with you when you travel. We can’t accept bus passes and recommend passport, driving license or Senior Railcard. If you can’t prove your age you may need to buy a new ticket at the full standard fare.
      • When can I travel using a TfW Club 50 ticket?
        Club 50 tickets are on sale until 24 November 2019. Outward travel is only permitted on the date shown on the ticket. The Return journey must take place within 8 days, the first day being the outward travel date printed on the ticket. The last day of sale and outward travel will be Sunday 24 November 2019 inclusive and all return travel must be completed by 04:29 on 2 December 2019.
      • Where can I travel?
        The Club 50 offer is only available for return journeys made on TfW Rail Limited. You can travel to destinations across the Wales and the Borders network. See the overleaf network map or visit our website.
      • Where can I buy a Club 50 ticket?
        Club 50 tickets are available to buy from our website (we don’t charge booking or admin fees), ticket offices or through the TfW Rail app. When starting at a station with a ticket office it is your responsibility to buy a valid ticket for the journey before boarding the train.
      • Are there any restrictions on use?
        Travel using a Club 50 ticket is not permitted before 0930 Monday to Friday. There are no travel restrictions* on weekends or bank holidays. *Club 50 tickets cannot be used for return journeys to/from or via Cardiff on Saturday 30 November due to a major sporting event taking place.
      • Can I break my journey?
        You can break your journey with a Club 50 ticket but any break of journey must be consistent with the travel dates and restrictions applicable to the ticket.
      • Refunds
        If you have changed your mind and decide not to travel you can apply for a refund. We will not charge an administration fee of £10 for refund of tickets bought from our website and mobile application. For tickets purchased through other retail channels, an admin fee will apply. You must claim a refund no more than 28 days after the expiry of the ticket. Please return your ticket to any ticket office or send your ticket to our Customer Relations department for a refund. If you have used a portion of your ticket, the element of use will be deducted from the ticket before any admin fee is applied.
      • If your train is disrupted and you choose not to travel
        If the train you intended to use was cancelled or delayed and you decided not to travel, you are entitled to claim a full refund from the ticket retailer, with no administration fee charged, if applied for within 28 days of the expiry of the ticket’s validity. This also applies if you have begun your journey but are unable to complete it due to delay or cancellations and return to your point of origin.
      • What if I change my travel plans?
        You can change the date of outward travel if you do this before the Outward date shown on the ticket for a fee of £10. Any change of travel date must be within the Club 50 offer period.
      • What if my journey is delayed?
        If one of our trains runs late or is cancelled for any reason, and because of that you get to your destination station 15 minutes or more later than scheduled, ‘Delay Repay’ applies. All claims for compensation must be received by us within 28 days of completion of your journey. Visit tfwrail.wales/delay-repay-compensation.
      • Any other Terms & Conditions?
        All tickets are issued subject to National Rail Conditions of Travel which are available from nationalrail.co.uk. This Club 50 promotional offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
