Caernarfon Castle is recognised around the world as one of the greatest buildings of the Middle Ages.
Recently highlighted on Netflix's 'The Crown', this fortress-palace on the banks of the River Seiont is one of the most famous castles in Wales.
Set within the walled city of Caernarfon, this castle took 47 years to build and is believed to be the inspiration for many TV and film sets; this is a castle for history lovers and TV fans alike.
This castle is a little further away from a train station than some of the others we have listed, however a short bus ride from Bangor station will allow you to see this spectacle for yourself.
