North Wales bus reform: community engagement
What’s happening
North Wales will be the second region to move to a franchised bus network. In summer 2026, we’re running a public engagement on the future bus network for the region.
We’ve worked with local authorities to develop maps that show what bus routes could look like under franchising. We’re looking for feedback on these proposed maps. This engagement will form the foundation for future improvements for the final bus network in the region.
On what we’re engaging
We want views on our proposed bus network for North Wales, including:
- Routes and frequencies:
What routes work well and which do not. - Choices in network planning:
Frequency versus coverage, speed versus convenience, and daytime reliability versus later services. - Managing the change:
Any concerns, questions or information needs as the bus network transitions to franchising. - Journey experience:
Anything else that affects bus travel, beyond routes alone.
Who it’s for and how to take part
We want to hear from people with an interest in bus services in bus services in North Wales. This includes people who rely on buses, those who use them occasionally and those who do not currently use them at all.
Engagement will include:
- An online survey and interactive network maps
- Public drop-in sessions across North Wales
- Stakeholder workshops.
When will you engage?
Our online survey and interactive maps will go live on Friday 14 August and will close on Friday 09 October 2026.
Public drop-in sessions will run from Tuesday 01 September to Friday 25 September 2026. A full list of locations, dates and times is available here.
What happens next
The feedback will be analysed and shared publicly. We’ll explain how it has informed the updated bus network.
