Tenby, on the western arm of Carmarthen Bay, is popular as a tourist destination, with visitors enjoying the four family-friendly beaches, the castle and town walls and numerous other attractions the town offers.
With close proximity to Haverfordwest, Llanelli, and Pembroke, there’s plenty to do and see around Tenby.
1. Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo
Seeing around 500,000 visitors through its doors annually, Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo offers a great day out for all the family. Not only a home to a vast range of animal species, there is also a vintage funfair and a choice of adventure play areas.
The zoo houses over 100 species of mammals, birds, reptiles and amphibians, many of which are endangered in their natural environments. Involved in 36 breeding programmes, Folly Farm plays a major role in the conservation of species including black rhino, Amur leopards, ruffed lemur and Humboldt penguin.
Meerkats, red pandas and all the big cats you could ever need are right at home at the zoo, while in the Barn area, traditional farm animals and cute fluffies are perfect for petting. From piglets, donkeys and goats to mice, rabbits and ferrets, they are here to be fussed over.
Folly Farm’s vintage fairground has numerous rides from the traditional big wheel to the high adrenaline roller coasters, while the adventure play zones feature climbing walls, soft play areas and pirate-themed adventures. There really is something for everyone here, and before you leave, relax with a slice of cake at the on-site Carousel Café.

2. Relax on Broad Haven Beach
Only a few miles from Tenby is the fabulous Broad Haven Beach. Beautifully sheltered coves and wide stretches of soft, golden sand make this one of the best beaches Wales has to offer. Awarded the Blue Flag for the quality of its water, environmental policies, and cleanliness, the lifeguard service makes it even more popular with parents of young children. Surfers, too, enjoy the waves at Broad Haven Beach.
The beach is close to all the amenities as cafes, pubs and restaurants line the sweeping seafront, along with shops and places to hire water sport equipment, such as surfboards and kayaks. Better, and more affordable, than any Mediterranean seashore, Broad Haven delivers a fantastic seaside experience.

3. Soar with the Eagles at the British Bird of Prey Centre
Offering inspirational experiences, the British Bird of Prey Centre near Tenby is home to one of the largest collections of raptors in the UK. Not only can you watch these magnificent birds soar and glide, but with expert tuition, you can actually fly one yourself.
All of the Centre's 20 breeds are indigenous, resident or regular visitors to the British Isles, and are loved and cared for by people who understand their needs. It also plays a major role in the conservation of these birds, such as the red kite, now making a comeback in the skies over Wales and the fish eating osprey, successfully breeding in Scotland and slowly returning to Welsh waters.
Whether your favourite is the Lily the little owl or the awe-inspiring Atlantis the white-tailed eagle, sponsorship packs are available, allowing you to get up close and personal to your sponsored bird. The packs include photos, factsheets, social media shout outs, cute cuddly toys and more, and you’ll also be helping conserve these stunning creatures in the wild.
