Services will be cancelled in the Pontypridd to Cardiff Bay area.

We expect the incident to last until 23:59 on 23/06/2026 and disruption to services is expected from 13:00 on 23/06/2026 until 23:59 on 25/06/2026.

Services from Pontypridd directly to Cardiff Bay will be Cancelled. Please use an alternative train service and change at Cardiff Queen Street for a service to Cardiff Bay.

Due to severe weather between Chester (CTR) and Wrexham General (WRX):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Chester (CTR) and Wrexham General (WRX).

We expect the incident to last until 20:00 and disruption to services is expected from 12:30 until 20:00.

What's Happened?

Due to a shortage of trains caused by extreme heat, fewer services than normal will be able to run in both directions between Chester and Wrexham General.

Please travel on the next available service.

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Heath Low Level (HLL) and Penarth (PEN).

We expect the incident to last until 20:00 on 27/06/2026 and disruption to services is expected from 05:00 on 22/06/2026 until 20:00 on 27/06/2026.

What's Happened?

Hot weather has been forecast, Meaning train journeys may be subject to change. Please check before you travel.

A Shuttle will operate servicing stations - Coryton, Whitchurch, Rhiwbina, Birchgrove, Ty Glas and Heath Low Level in both directions. For passengers wishing to travel towards Cardiff Central or Rhymney, please change at Heath Low Level and walk to Heath High Level for connecting train services.

There will be a reduced service Between Cardiff Central and Penarth due to the severe weather forcast.

Customers can use local bus services between Cardiff and Penarth to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost:

  • Service 92 with Cardiff Bus.

You can use these services from 05:00 until 20:00 from Monday22nd to Saturday 27th

Due to severe weather between Manchester Piccadilly (MAN) and Cardiff Central (CDF):

Services may be cancelled from Manchester Piccadilly (MAN) towards Cardiff Central (CDF).

We expect the incident to last until the end of the day and disruption to services is expected from 04:00 until the end of the day.

What's Happened?

Due to a shortage of trains caused by extreme heat, fewer services than normal will be able to run in both directions between Manchester Piccadilly and Cardiff Central via Crewe and Shrewsbury.

Customers are able to travel from Manchester Piccadilly to Crewe, Shrewsbury, and Cardiff Central on Transport for Wales services via Chester.

Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:

  • Chester and Crewe with Avanti West Coast

  • Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe with Northern
  • Birmingham New Street to Shrewsbury with West Midlands Railway

These arrangements are in place on services until the end of the day.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

Due to a shortage of trains caused by extreme heat, fewer services than normal will be able to run between Cardiff Central and Ebbw Vale Town. Services from Newport to Ebbw Vale Town are unaffected.

We expect the incident to last until the end of the day and disruption to services is expected from 05:00 until the end of the day.

What's Happened?

Due to a shortage of trains caused by extreme heat, services between Bridgend and Maesteg will be cancelled.

Alternative Travel Options:

We have organised buses provided by Forge Travel to run between Bridgend and Maesteg to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. Check services running in the area using the Transport for Wales Live Map

Update: Incident due to severe weather between Llandudno (LLD) and Blaenau Ffestiniog (BFF) until 21:37.

Due to severe weather between Llandudno (LLD) and Blaenau Ffestiniog (BFF):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Llandudno (LLD) and Blaenau Ffestiniog (BFF).

We expect the incident to last until 21:37 on 24/06/2026 and disruption to services is expected from 05:06 on 24/06/2026 until 21:37 on 24/06/2026.

What's Happened?

Due to severe weather, the line is blocked between Llandudno Junction and Blaenau Ffestiniog.

This means our services between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog are unable to run in either direction.

Please note we expect the line to be closed all day with all train services being replaced by Road replacement transport.

Alternative Travel Options

We have organised buses to run between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These Will be provided by Llew Jones.
