Our most flexible tickets allow you to travel any time of the day, any day of the week.
You can buy Anytime tickets prior to the day of travel or on the day right before your journey.
The fare you pay is based on how far you're travelling and whether you want a Single ticket or Return ticket. You can use them for your outward trip at any time on the date printed on the ticket and if you have the relevant Return ticket, you can return any time within 1 calendar month.
You can often reserve a place on your train of choice when purchasing your tickets. You can also buy and travel completely contactless as our Anytime tickets are available as e-tickets from our app or website.
Where to buy an Anytime ticket
You can buy on our app, our website, or at our stations from a self-service ticket machine or ticket office.
We’ve added the ability for you to spread payments over 3 instalments using PayPal Pay in 3 if your purchase is over £30. You can find more information on this option when you come to the payment screen.
Can I upgrade from Standard to First-Class?
You can upgrade from a Standard-Class ticket to First-Class on our services, where this is applicable. This applies for all our Standard tickets including Anytime and Advance Singles, Returns, Season tickets, and Rover and Ranger tickets. Please let the conductor know if you’d like to upgrade as they’ll need to confirm there is space in First Class. Please remember there’ll also be an additional cost for any meals you order on the train if you’ve upgraded to First Class.
