The stunning 85 mile long Ceredigion Coastal Way runs nearby, and this stretch is a less daunting 5 miles. Perfect for dog walking, we welcome your well behaved canine chums on our trains. This route starts at the top of Constitution Hill which rises steeply at the end of the sweeping seafront promenade. The view from the summit is jaw-dropping, and when viewed through the world’s largest Camera Obscura, it’s even more inspiring. Built in 1880, it originally stood in the castle grounds, but was later moved to this spot as it offered a better view. Allowing you to view over 1000 square miles across land and sea with impressive clarity and detail, it’s worth the climb up the hill - although most visitors prefer to save their breath and take the funicular Cliff Railway. Carrying people up the steep hill since 1890, it originally used a water balancing system to provide the movement, in the 1920s, it was electrified.
If you’re after a more physical adrenaline fix, AberAdventures offer private or group, one-off instruction or longer courses in kayaking, surfing and paddleboards. They also hire out equipment for you to enjoy, but after all that fresh air, why not head for Marine Place and its busy, vibrant cafes that spill out onto the pavement. Offering a wealth of delicious menu options, from coffee and light snacks to a more substantial meal, relax and watch the world go by.
Before you jump on the train home, stop off at the award-winning Arts Centre to catch a show or exhibition. With an eclectic mix of events, there’s something to suit every taste. From classical music to stand up comedy, theatre to art exhibitions, this is the perfect end to your adventure.
