Aberdare Ramblers Cymru route

- As you arrive at Aberdare be sure to head to the end of the platform to take the switch back ramp that will lead you down to the road. Use the crossing point over the road and take the bridge up and over the road. Once off the bridge go right on Duke Street and then take the next left onto Commercial Street which is the start of the main shopping area of the town.
- Head up to the top of this street and opposite the church go right along Canon Street. Follow this road until it reaches a crossroads, where the Aberdare Library is across from you and an open area with some cafes. Use the accessibility crossing points here over to the library side of the road and then head right along High Street which leads you around to a roundabout.
- Cross straight over the roundabout onto Gladys Road. A short way up the road use the zebra crossing to ensure there are dropped curbs for wider accessible use. Continue up the road and at the Lidl store cross back over the road again ensuring the best accessible options. Continue up the road and soon the entrance to Aberdare Park will be across the road from you.
- Once you have entered the park you have options. There is a nice wide path that leads you on a loop of the park, or you have the chance to go straight to the pond, café and toilets. Take your time here to enjoy everything that this park has to offer.
- Once you’re ready to head back to the station you just simply need to retrace your steps. Take the time though to explore the shops and cafes that Aberdare town centre has to offer.
If you want to wander further than Aberdare Park, then there is good access to Dare Valley Country Park from the train station. As you descend from the switch back ramp keep an eye out for the signage leading you all the way out to the Park.
