Blaenau Ffestiniog route map
  1. Leaving the station head up onto High Street and turn right. (Public toilets are available in the large car park behind Tŷ Coffi Stiniog) Follow the road a short distance to Heol Glynllifon Street and the Meirion pub. Here turn right and follow the road, crossing over the railway line.
  2. When you reach the crossroads turn right and just before the school you will see a footpath sign on the left marked for the slate trail. Follow this a short distance and when the tarmac bends right a slate trail sign will direct you left down a hill through some woodland. Continue to follow the slate trail waymarks until you hit the road.
  3. Here turn left and then pass through a gate with a stile next to it. Here the slate trail will continue along the track but you want to take the footpath off to the left heading steeply uphill. The short hill is worth the effort and will reward you with wonderful views across to the Moelwyns and the Stwlan dam.
  4. Follow the path until you come to a tarmac track. Here turn left but then keep straight ahead and a small cut through will take you down the left of a hedge. Turn right then left and you will be on the main road.
  5. Turn left here and follow the pavement all the way back to the town centre and the station.
