  1. From the station take the short walk across the road to the coast path and Flint Castle. Flint Castle is the earliest and most unusual of Wales’ English built castles. It is dominated by a great tower that had it’s own moat and drawbridge making it essentially a castle within a castle.
  2. Once you have enjoyed your fill of the castle head out along the Wales Coastal Path. There are low tide and high tide options and excellent views across the Dee Estuary across to the Wirral. Walk past a sculpture depicting a WW1 soldier looking out to sea. It’s also an excellent place to birdwatch, when the tide is out many species feed on the mud flats and when the tide is in they are often seen on the saltmarsh.
  3. Continue as far as a second sculpture. This one a 3m tall ‘Flintshire Guardian’ that looks out to Hillbre Island from Flint Point. Here turn inland and follow a woodland path around the saltmarsh before re-joining the coastal path and retracing your steps back to the castle and ultimately the station.
