Planning to travel this weekend?
Customers are strongly encouraged to check their journey before travelling and allow extra time where possible, as severe weather may affect rail services across parts of the Wales and Borders network.
Strong winds can increase the risk of trees falling onto the railway, while increased leaf fall and wet conditions can make it more difficult for trains to stop and accelerate, leading to journeys taking longer than usual.
To help keep customers moving while maintaining a safe and reliable railway, an amended timetable will be in place on a number of our routes.
Service changes:
- West Wales - From Friday to Sunday, services in West Wales will run as far as Carmarthen, with rail replacement buses in place to help customers travel onwards to Fishguard, Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven.
- Heart of Wales line - No trains will run on the Heart of Wales line, between Llanelli and Craven Arms, from Friday until midday on Sunday, with the line reopening Sunday afternoon should conditions allow.
- Cambrian line - On Friday and Saturday, Services between Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury will be reduced, running every two hours
- North Wales Coast - On Friday and Saturday, Services will be reduced to two trains per hour running between Chester and Llandudno Junction and an hourly service between Llandudno Junction and Holyhead. Services should run to their normal timetable on Sunday.
Customers should also be aware that planned engineering work is taking place elsewhere on the network this weekend, including on the Vale of Glamorgan, Penarth and Cardiff Bay lines.
Remember to check the TfW website or app for the latest travel information before setting off and allow extra time for journeys where possible.
