The station leads onto Euston Road in the central London Borough of Camden, and with the Victoria and Northern underground lines running through Euston, you can head in any direction you choose. However, Camden Lock Market is close by and if your trip is on a weekend, this is definitely an experience not to be missed. Stretching along Regent’s Canal, the market has recently benefited from a £300 million investment. If unique, bohemian, ethnic, and artistic are your buzzwords, you will find the stalls here hard to resist! Numerous restaurants line the grassy banks of the canal, and live bands fill the air with music - a summer’s afternoon spent here and you’ll never want to leave!
Every visitor to London will love seeing the view from the giant Ferris wheel known as the London Eye that sits on the South Bank of the meandering River Thames. Standing 443 feet tall, the 32 air-conditioned glass passenger pods allow a 360° panorama across the sprawling city below. The Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, the Shard, Buckingham Palace and St. Paul’s Cathedral can all be seen from the great height, along with the beautiful parks London is known for.
If spine-chilling thrills are your thing, the London Dungeon is a stone’s throw from the London Eye. Recreating gory episodes from history, including Jack the Ripper, Sweeney Todd and the horrors of the torture chamber, it uses a mix of live (or dead!) action, rides and spooky special effects. There’s even an escape room - and you can imagine what you’re trying to escape from!
London is internationally recognised for its culture, and nowhere is this more obvious than the vast range of museums and art galleries throughout London, including The British Museum, Natural History Museum, and the National Gallery. Free to enter, you could easily spend an entire day in just one of these fabulous buildings, wandering through their jaw-dropping collections.
No trip to London would be complete without a spot of retail therapy. Harrods on Brompton Road, Fortnum and Mason in Piccadilly, and Selfridges on Oxford Road are all must-visit stores, followed by a wander through Covent Garden’s covered market. Watch the street artists, before grabbing a bit to eat at one of the many restaurants there.
