Looming over the area is the granite faced Penrhyn Castle. Owned and lovingly tended by The National Trust, it sits in impressive grounds, leading to dark, seemingly enchanted woodlands. Towards the west of Bangor, the richly opulent Cathedral has one of the few Biblical gardens in the UK. Containing specimens of every plant mentioned in the bible, this is well worth a visit.

Cultural hotspot Storiel has a vibrant and lively programme of exhibitions, shows and performances. Housing one of the two museums in the area, and showcasing local artistic talents, this is the place to relax, grab a coffee before heading off to experience the retail therapy found in the shopping centres. Housing all the high street brands, and an intriguing collection of artisan boutiques, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
