Where to buy an Explore North and Mid Wales Pass
You can buy an Explore North and Mid Wales Pass from our app, website, any of our station ticket offices or from the conductor on the train. You’ll need to have our app to activate the ticket on your phone.
You can also buy them from other UK railway stations with a ticket office, a National Rail Appointed Travel Agent.

Can I upgrade from Standard to First Class?
You can upgrade from a Standard Class ticket to First Class on our services, where this is applicable. This applies for all our Standard tickets including Anytime and Advance Singles, Returns, Season tickets, and Rover and Ranger tickets. Please let the conductor know if you’d like to upgrade as they’ll need to confirm there is space in First Class. Please remember there’ll also be an additional cost for any meals you order on the train if you’ve upgraded to First Class.

- Explore North and Mid Wales offers unlimited travel on Transport for Wales and on selected bus services in Wales for 4 days within an 8 day period, within the designated geographical area.
- Bounded by Holyhead - Crewe - Shrewsbury - Pwllheli and the coast, plus Llandudno - Llandudno Junction and Dovey Junction - Aberystwyth.
- Valid after 09:30 Monday to Friday, and all day Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays. Valid for 4 days' travel in an 8 day period.
- However, no time restriction between Llandudno and Blaenau Ffestiniog or Aberystwyth - Pwllheli.
- No restriction on buses.
- Valid on Transport for Wales and Avanti West Coast services.
- Buy Explore North and Mid Wales from your local rail station booking office.
- If there are no ticket buying facilities at the station where you are starting your journey, you can also buy Explore North and Mid Wales from a Conductor on board a Transport for Wales service.
- Unused tickets are refundable subject to an administration fee.
