Due to a fire on property near the railway between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Cwmbran (CWM):
Services may be delayed by up to 60 minutes.
Services may be cancelled in both directions between Newport (South Wales) (NWP) and Hereford (HFD).
We expect the incident to last until 12:00 and disruption to services is expected from 04:00 until 14:00.
What's Happened?
We have been made aware of a fire on an industrial estate near the line at Ponthir between Newport and Cwmbran.
For safety, train services will be running more slowly than normal through the area, with residual delayed of up to 60 minutes to be expected.
We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from Network Rail.

Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:
- Great Western Railway between Cardiff Central and Bristol Parkway.
- CrossCountry between Cardiff Central/Bristol Parkway and Birmingham New Street.
- West Midlands Railway between Hereford and Birmingham New Street.
These arrangements are in place on services until further notice.
If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

You can use the following local bus services to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost:
- Route X24 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Newport and Pontypool via Cwmbran.
- Route 21 and X3 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Pontypool and Cwmbran.
- Route 23 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Cwmbran and Hereford via Abergavenny.
- Route X5 provided by Stagecoach South Wales between Cardiff and Cwmbran.
