Update: Incident due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Aberystwyth (AYW) until 12:00.

Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Aberystwyth (AYW):

Services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Services may be cancelled in both directions between Shrewsbury (SHR) and Aberystwyth (AYW).

We expect the incident to last until 12:00 and disruption to services is expected from 04:16 until 12:00.

What's Happened?

One of our trains has experienced a technical fault at Machynlleth meaning services in the area are subject to disruption and may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

This is affecting services on our Birmingham International to Aberystwyth/Pwllheli route. We expect the incident to be cleared by 12:00. Train services may be delayed by up to 30 minutes or cancelled between Shrewsbury and Machynlleth.

Alternative Travel Options:

Your ticket can be used on the following alternative routes to help you complete your journey, with the Train Operating Companies listed below at no extra cost:

Birmingham International to Shrewsbury in both directions with West Midlands Railway

These arrangements are in place on services until 14:00.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

Due to a fault with the signalling system between Ninian Park (NNP) and Radyr (RDR):

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Ninian Park (NNP) and Radyr (RDR).

We expect the incident to last until the end of the day and disruption to services is expected until the end of the day.

What's Happened?

We have been made aware of a signalling problem between Ninian Park and Radyr

As a result, train services will not be able to run through the area until the signalling system is working normally.

Our colleagues at Amey Infrastructure are aware of the problem and technicians are currently en route to the affected area/signalling.

We will publish more information here, once we have received an update from the infrastructure technicians.

Customers can use local bus services between Radyr and Cardiff to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost:

  • 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 61, 62 and 63 Cardiff Bus services.

You can use these services until the end of the day.

We apologise that our Pay As You Go cannot be used on local bus operators.

We advise passengers to tap out at the earliest opportunity.

We have road transport running between Radyr and Cardiff Central provided by Bluebirds, to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost.

The first bus from Radyr to Cardiff Central via Ninian Park, will depart at 08:10

Then services will depart at the following times:

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.
