Introduction
The Green Man Festival is much more than just a music event; it’s an independent, ethical celebration of science, arts, and the mystical spirit of the Welsh mountains. Tucked away in the breathtaking Brecon Beacons National Park, it’s a place where you can lose yourself in a forest of discovery and find your way back through the power of community.
Choosing the train for your journey to Glanusk is the most sustainable way to travel, perfectly aligning with the festival's own fossil-free and eco-conscious ethos. Leave the car behind, watch the hills roll by, and arrive ready to embrace the magic.
What to expect
With a 25,000-person capacity, Green Man has evolved from a tiny folk gathering into a week-long odyssey divided into lots of unique areas.
- The music: Experience a diverse lineup ranging from indie and psychedelia to electronica and traditional folk. For 2026, the stages will feature world-class acts like Wolf Alice, Mogwai, and Sparks.
- Einstein’s Garden: A festival first, this area is a hub of science and nature where you can enjoy interactive workshops and see experiments powered entirely by hydrogen fuel cells.
- The Settlement: Open for a full week, this area allows "Settlers" to explore local Welsh culture and heritage before the main festival gates even open.
- Wellness and workshops: Recharge in the Nature Nurture area with a soak in a hot tub or join a creative workshop in literature, film, or performing arts.
- The Burning of the Man: On the final night, the festival reaches its symbolic peak as the towering Green Man sculpture is set ablaze, representing rebirth and the cycle of the seasons.
When: Set in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park this independent festival is usually held over four days in mid-to-late August. This year, the magic returns from 20 August 2026 - 23 August 2026.

To make your journey seamless, a free shuttle bus service runs regularly between Abergavenny station and the Glanusk Estate starting from Thursday morning through to Monday afternoon.
