To the east of Swansea, Port Talbot sits across the Bay, and is well known for its glorious Aberavon seafront. The longest in Wales, there are plenty of places to take a break, grab a coffee and just watch the waves, before continuing to stroll along the promenade. While you’re there, Surf School Wales run classes throughout the year. Open to all, why not get fit whilst having fun and learning a new sport!
Another of Port Talbot’s many attractions is the one-of-a-kind Baked Bean Museum of Excellence. Hosted by the Great British Eccentric Winner, Captain Beany from the Planet Beanus, this is a must see, even if you aren’t a fan of the bean.
If retail is your thing, head for the Aberafan Shopping Centre. Home to all the big name brands, from department stores to smaller outlets. But if you’re after more artisan crafts, head down the side streets where colourful boutiques wait for you. One-off pieces and handmade gifts, you won’t find better, and why not treat yourself too.
