Step aboard the Vale of Rheidol Railway and experience one of Wales’ great little train journeys. This historic narrow-gauge line winds its way through the dramatic landscapes of mid-Wales, travelling from the seaside town of Aberystwyth to the spectacular waterfalls at Devil’s Bridge.

Originally opened in 1902, the railway was built to serve the lead mines and timber industry of the Rheidol Valley. Today, beautifully restored steam locomotives haul heritage carriages along a 12-mile route that climbs more than 600 feet into the Cambrian Mountains.
