You can now upgrade from a Standard ticket to our new Standard Plus option on some of our brand-new trains. For just 25% extra on the price of your Standard ticket, you’ll get a more comfortable seat with extra leg room.
Which services will include Standard Plus?
You can upgrade on the following routes, subject to availability.
- Shrewsbury - Birmingham
- Cambrian Line: Aberystwyth/Pwllheli - Shrewsbury
- North Wales Coast Line: Crewe - Holyhead
- Marches Line: Newport - Crewe/Manchester
- South Wales Mainline: Swansea - Severn Tunnel Junction
- West Wales Lines: Swansea - Fishguard, Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock
Standard Plus isn’t available on our Premier Services between Cardiff and Holyhead and Cardiff and Manchester. First Class tickets are available for this service.
How will I know if Standard Plus is available on my train and how can I upgrade?
You can only upgrade to Standard Plus on the train and your conductor can check availability when you buy your upgrade.
Upgrades to Standard Plus and First Class are subject to availability and sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
What about food and drink?
All our onboard food and drink services are subject to availability. The easiest way to check availability on your train is by buying your ticket through our app or website. When you select your route and departure times, a food and drink icon will appear.
