Due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time between Pontypridd (PPD) and Cardiff Bay (CDB):

We expect the incident to last until 23:59 on 02/10/2026 and disruption to services is expected until 23:59 on 02/10/2026.

What's Happened?

We apologise for temporary disruption on the route between Cardiff Bay and Pontypridd.

If travelling from stations between Pontypridd and Cathays, please change at Cardiff Queen Street for services to Cardiff Bay.

Customers can use local bus services between Pontypridd and Cardiff to help you complete your journey, at no extra cost between Tuesday 29th September - Saturday 3rd October:

24 and 25 Cardiff Bus services.
132 Stagecoach

Services will be cancelled in both directions between Machynlleth (MCN) and Aberystwyth (AYW).

We expect the incident to last until 23:30 and disruption to services is expected from 20:30 on 28/09/2026 until the end of the day.

What's Happened?

Due to forecasted severe weather services will not be able to run between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth. The following services will be disrupted:

18:08 Birmingham International to Aberystwyth will terminate at Machynlleth.

20:32 Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth will terminate at Machynlleth.

21:27 Aberystwyth to Machynlleth will be Cancelled.

22:27 Aberystwyth to Machynlleth will be Cancelled.

We have organised the following buses to assist customers to complete journeys where possible at no extra cost. These will all be provided by Lloyds.

20:48 Machynlleth all stations to Aberystwyth. This rail replacement will meet the incoming 18:08 Birmingham International service to maintain customer connections.

21:27 Aberystwyth all stations to Machynlleth.

21:50 Machynlleth all stations to Aberystwyth. This rail replacement will meet the incoming 20:32 Shrewsbury service to maintain customer connections.

22:27 Aberystwyth all stations to Machynlleth.

These arrangements are in place on services until 00:30.

Road Transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.

Stay connected with our free onboard Wi-Fi, allowing you to catch up on work, check social media or keep young travel companions entertained. Selected long-distance routes also have trolley service and onboard dining with fresh food, snacks, hot and cold drinks. Served straight to your seat.

Travelling with luggage, bikes and pets

Furry friends are welcome on our trains at no extra cost, provided they’re well-behaved and don’t disturb other customers. You can bring your bike on board, but spaces may be limited at certain times.

For everyone's safety and comfort, please keep aisles and doorways clear by using overhead racks and dedicated luggage areas.

If you need travel advice or assistance on the train, the conductor will be happy to help.

Yes, we offer free Wi-Fi on our trains. Simply connect to our network to stay online throughout your train journey.

Can I bring a dog or pet on my train journey?

Yes, up to two domestic pets can travel free of charge on our trains. Dogs must be kept on a short lead at all times or kept in an appropriate pet carrier.

Can I buy food and drink on the train?

Our selected long-distance services have onboard trolley services serving hot and cold drinks and snacks. You’re also welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic drinks on board.

How do I get the best value for my train journey?

We advise planning your journey and buying tickets early on our app or website to get the lowest fares and smoothest journey.

Can I bring other pets besides dogs on board a train?

Are there always toilets on Transport for Wales trains?

Most of our services have accessible onboard toilets equipped with baby-changing facilities. On some shorter, high-frequency local routes, trains may not have onboard toilets - these will be available at key stations along the line.

What should I do in an emergency during my train journey?

If you feel unwell or notice an emergency while on the train, tell the conductor straight away. In an urgent situation, you can pull the emergency alarm located near the train doors, or text the British Transport Police discreetly on 61016.
