PAYING FOR YOUR JOURNEYS
Bus
The easy way to pay for your journeys with a number of operators in Wales. Please check availability with the driver as you board.
Buy and store your bus tickets, or validate your mytravelpass in the Traws Cymru app.
Pay for your Conwy Valley journey. More locations will be available for payment soon.
View bus fares from bus operators and local authorities.
Save approximately 30% on bus travel in Wales, including TrawsCymru and fflecsi services. You’re eligible if:
- you’re aged 16-21
- have a permanent address or attend full-time education in Wales.
Travel for free on most bus services in Wales and the borders, including TrawsCymru and fflecsi. You’ll also get discounted or free travel on many rail services. You’re eligible if:
- your primary address is in Wales
- you’re aged 60 or over, or meet the Welsh Government’s disability eligibility criteria.
You can buy a combined ticket for selected journeys on TfW Rail and TrawsCymru services.
You can pay with cash on most bus services, but you should always check with your operator before travelling.

Smoother train travel with contactless pay as you go is available exclusively on TfW and Cross Country services in South Wales. See the full list of stations here.
Unlimited travel across our network
Our Explore passes offer unlimited travel across a chosen area of our network. They give you the flexibility to get on and off the train as much as you like.
Buy before your journey to save money
Our Advance train tickets offer the best value for long distance journeys and reserve a place for you on the train. They’re available up to eight weeks before travelling.
Looking to make your train journey a little more special? Make it First Class on applicable trains between Cardiff and Manchester and Cardiff and Holyhead. With more space, greater comfort and a dedicated onboard host, you really can travel in style:

- Find out when you can you get free and discounted rail travel with a Concessionary Travel Pass.
- Cash payment is available at station ticket offices, ticket machines and applicable Payzone stores.
- You must buy your ticket before you board the train unless there's no ticket office or ticket machine.

Kids Go Free on our trains
Children aged 11-15 can travel for free on our trains during off-peak times. Under 11’s can travel for free on our trains at any time. Both need to be accompanied by a fare-paying adult.
