This site hosts key regulatory documentation and other information in respect of the role AIW undertakes as Infrastructure Manager for the railway network running from Cardiff to Treherbert, Aberdare, Merthyr Tydfil, Coryton, Rhymney and Cwmbargoed (known as the Core Valleys Lines), as well as hosting consultations run by AIW.

The Core Valley Lines network was transferred from Network Rail to Transport for Wales on 28 March 2020.  Transport for Wales leases its assets to AIW who are the Infrastructure Manager for the Core Valley Lines network.

  • Line blockages of the CVL network are obtained via the Green Zone Access Management (GZAM) system, here

  • Although we are an off-network member of the Delay Attribution Board, train delays on the CVL network under the performance regime are in accordance with the Delay Attribution Principles and Rules
