Now easier than ever by train from Liverpool
North Wales is packed with places to explore, from classic seaside towns to historic cities and coastal walks. From 17 May 2026, getting here is simpler and more flexible than ever thanks to a major timetable upgrade.
More frequent trains between the North Wales Coast and Liverpool mean day trips, weekends away and spontaneous plans are much easier to make. Whether you are heading west for a beach break or east for shopping, culture or football, the rail connection now fits around you.
A big change to the North Wales Coast Line
We’re introducing one of the most significant timetable changes in a generation on the North Wales Coast Line.
- Around 50 percent more train services
- Simpler, more regular timetables
- Better connections between North Wales, Chester and Liverpool
These changes are part of Network North Wales, a long-term programme to create a better-connected, higher-frequency transport network across the region. A key focus is making cross-border travel easier, so communities, coastlines and cities are more closely linked than ever.
For customers, that means less waiting, easier planning, and more choice about when to travel.

The upgraded timetable strengthens links between the North Wales Coast and Liverpool via Chester, making it easier to travel for:
